Jkuci, I love your avatar, that is a beautiful picture of yourself (it is you, right?) so thanks for sharing it with us.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I read through the blog. Basically it just added up to they couldn't run the whole forums anymore. Too bad, so sad. I just don't understand why they couldn't have found an alternative. Maybe limiting more things. Lots of other gaming sites have their game forums and a social forum as wel..

With as many posts as BF had?  Close to 5.5 million.  It will be interesting, for me, anyway, to see hw many of those post disappear, since CCC probably made up 95% of what's being dropped.

If, as I suspect, a lawsuit is brewing, BF might not have the cash in hand to go to another forum software provider.  And the problem of porting over the contet of the game forums would still be an issue.

I know many people only posted to CCC and possibly would have preferred that BF dump the game forums instead, but that wasn't how things turned out.

I only posted because I thought my background would give some nsight into what might be going on behind the scenes.  It is obvious that a lot of people either aren't interested or aren't ready yet and are still working through their emotions over the sudden decision.

I respect that.  Feelings are neither right nor wrong, they just are.  And each of us will have to decide how long we're going to embrace the hurt, anger, whatever and when we're ready to let it go.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Tira, I am only angry over the short notice. I do think the word games caused more trouble than expected but they are deleting those to. It will be just the forums for the games.

As long as I can still download my games I will just continue on. Just a little sad over the loss.

What sort of trouble was happening over in the word games?  I never really went there.  Or do you mean that they too were putting a drain on the system?

The short notice was unfortunate for those who wanted to make copies of things, but I personally wouldn't have stuck around to the end because it felt like being in the middle of a gang war.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I mean the short notice for those that wanted to save things. Personally it wouldn't have mattered to me but I feel for some of them. Like Kate (Hespera) just discovered her mom posted poems in the forums. She didn't know anything about it until the last minute.

I think the word games started out ok but there were tons of pages with different games. I think if they had limited it some it might have been ok. There were so many that would go to thread after thread and make a response.  But then again i think your reason is probably valid so it wouldn't have made a difference anyways at this stage.

I'm not sure what you mean by jettison, tee, BF is still supplying PCer's with a game a day.  The numbers do explain why the Big Fish Studio team farmed out the next PC/Mac Mystery Case Files game to Elephant and concentrate their energies on producing games for mobile devices.

That was from the original poster, not me ~ maybe because the CCC was predominately PC users, not mobile gamers.

You know, when I think about it, I was not a big poster in the CCC anymore, just in our thread, but it was the habit of just checking in to see if anything interested me enough to take a look.  Now with this forum and a couple others I signed up for, I'm sure I will get that community feeling back shortly.  This will make it so much easier to cancel when I use up all my PCC's, not having that overwhelming need to be tied to the site.

barre, I was having so much trouble with the new Game App, unable to access the Purchase History and cosmestic issues, that I'm glad I got the old one back.  I just start my game now from the GM but sometimes bypass the GM altogether and start from the .exe file in the folder.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Ok, I'm confused. what lawsuit? Why do you suspect a lawsuit is brewing?

Re: Finish your games challenge

misscatlady2453 - because in the original announcement thread, it was mentioned who was providing the new forum software.

BFG would not have told us that all the old posts would be moved unless that was part of the contract.  BFG wanted to retain those posts, everything if possible, but most certainly all the information in game forums.  If they didn't, BFGthey would just close down everything and open up new, but empty, forums using the new super duper forums, complete with avatars, kudos, perks and whatnot.

The other company failed to deliver.  Unless BFG and the other company agree on compensation (why would BFG pay for something they didn't receive?), in all likelihood, they will go to court.  It wouldn't surprise me if BFG also sought compensation for the loss of goodwill they have suffered due to the lack of delivery of the new software as ordered.
