Well, I think it might be a difficult thing to set up....are you ready with a whole lot of avatars for people to use? You are the administrator so I guess it is up to you to set up whatever you wish. Like I said, I'm just donig it for fun.
I just got a beta test invite in my email box, it is for Greed: The Mad Scientist. It's weird, I seem to be getting lots of beta invites lately. I might try it tonight but my mind is pre-occupied right now with the closing of the Pond, which is such a sad event and so traumatic for a lot of people who are maybe saying goodbye for the last time.

The avatar is separate from rank and totally under each indiviual's control, as long as they don't use something that would generally be considered offensive, not that I think anybody here would do such a thing.
Ranks are tied to the number of posts a person has and is just words listed under their name. For instance, I have Administator under my name, you have member, other people have new member.
I can remove those designations (except I think for my administrator) or change them if people want to aspire to be Grand Poobah of Gaming or whatever. It isn't important to me, but if it matters to others, I don't mind doing what it takes to make people happy about the change to a new location.
I hope everybody has checked out the "My Profile" area to see how they can customize their viewing options.

I kind of liked morphing. It's not a big deal either way, but I enjoyed knowing what rank was coming up and either looking forward to getting to it or hoping to quickly get to the next one. I'd recommend having them, but only if it's not hard for you to set up and other members are also in favor.
Separately, I do really like the avatars that this site lets you have. I like being able to see a different pic for everyone (unlike the morphs, which were shared by multiple people), and that they can be personalized if people want them to be.
Does anyone have any thoughts on todays new release, Fort Defense? With the shock of the news yesterday I didn't even check it out as the TGT. I'm always interested when there's a new game that isn't a HOG, and I sometimes like tower defense games (though I'm not very good at them). I'll probably dl the trial in a bit once my annoyance at the way BFG has handled the shutdown passes, but I wondered if anyone had tried it.

Oh, and it's kind of silly, but I guess a big part of what I liked about morphing was the little icon. If it was just a title I don't know if I'd care as much.

I'm still in a state of cynical surprise about BFG's decision to axe our chit chat. Netflix did the same thing to their member forums and it affected their revenue only about 6 months. Now they're back stronger than before so, thats only encouragement for BFG, I suppose.

The thing I find incredible is that somebody stuck their neck out and told TPTB at BFG that it would be possible to transfer all the posts to new forum software without doing a test run to see if that was in fact true.
As soon as the forums were shut down back in June in anticipation of moving the posts, and the threads locked, but when clicked on they were empty, I had a sinking feeling somebody had promised the impossible or that their was a massive communication failure between the prgrammers and the people requestion the programming.
Once it was determined that the posts could not be easily moved (and yes, somebody could have sat there and copied and pasted each an every post but thats not really a viable alternative when you're talking 5 million + messages), BF found themselves between a rock and a hard place.
They could wipe out everything and start over. Or they could try and buy some more time for their aging technology and jettison some of the load. From a business standpoint (they do sell games, after all), they decided to hold on to the games forums and ditch the rest.
It would have been nice if they could have made a small area for general gaming threads, but I doubt if everybody would have followed the rules. And having tons of posts containing [Removed by Moderator] would have taken up just as much space and been just as much of a load on the software as what was actually removed by the moderator.
They definitely could and should have given more warning, but looking at what been going on in CCC during its death throes, where more than a few fishies seem determined to get as many insults in as possible, it's proably just as well that the plug is being pulled quickly.

Yes, they did do the Rip the Bandage Off Quickly manuever.
Well, I mainly enjoyed the forums at old BFG so, when I use up my 2 credits and 4 punches I will quietly withdraw my membership.
I have over 500 games - many I haven't finished. So, in the coming years I will have plenty to post here on the Topic, Finish your Games Challenge.
Thanks, again, Tiramu for hosting this forum. Live Long and Prosper!!!

Sorry Jen, I didn't try that one. In fact I don't think I have any tower defense games...are they fun to play? I do play TM games but not this type. I'm still playing Magic Farm 2 which I started in June....it's taking me a long time to finish but I am having fun because it's easy collecting flowers and whacking bugs, and completing the quests which never seem to stop...once I finish a quest, another one pops up, but I'm not complaining..

Hey guys, I was just thinking, would anyone be interested in a new thread for Word Games? I know I had quite a bit of fun when I went in there because I wanted to morph from salmon to barracuda. We could do it here but we don't have to be so intense about it, like spending hours just doing word games like I did when I wanted to morph...so crazy We could start the thread with lots of different kinds of word games, then when anyone feels like it, just pop in there for a bit of fun and carry on with wherever the game stopped. It might be a slow going thread but it could be fun. Just a suggestion

You are probably exactly right. I couldn't believe all the threats and anger over this whole thing. Not to mention all the people quitting their membership and leaving all together. I mean, I wish they had given us more warning about this and I'll miss the chit chat forum, but it isn't the tragedy some made it out to be. Oh well.
