Re: Finish your games challenge

I ended up getting Apothecarium and Awakening The Goblin Kingdom today with my GCC. I was able to get the BOGO and the bonus punches. I decided to do that instead of paying $6.99 for a second GCC to get two CEs. I'll save that for next BOGO. Doing this still filled up a card so I have a PCC to use. Undecided if I'm going to use it today or save it until next Monday.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I started out with Real Arcade.  That was back in the olden days when games were released every other week (4-6 of them) and you had to use you club credits within 30 days.  Oh, and extra games cost full price (unless you were sneaky and had more than one club membership, but then you had to remember what you bought with each identity).   Then real life got hectic and I quit.

When I was ready to get back into gaming, Real Arcade has just merged with Game House.   A number of my games would not work (I had changed from XP to Win7) and worse, some of my games were gone.  Seems Game House refused to support or give access to games produced by Big Fish.  So I lost 3 MCF games.  Supposedly GH was giving people credits for the lost games (and big whop, now you had 2 months to use your credits instead one 1 month), but people were posting on the message boards that GH was giving them a very hard time about those missing or unplayable games.

So I decided to just walk away.  DH sometimes plays some of the games he can still access, but I've drawn a line.  THe GH site is cluttered wth outside ads and always drops tons of cookies for all sorts of carp on my machine.  I decided that if I was going to have to go to Big Fish to get my MCF games, I'd get all my games there.

The ads issue has kept me away from Gazebo also, Sick of seeing ads for avatars of scantily clad women, and most of their focus now seems to be on games for mobile devices, facebook games, or the types of PC/Mac games that would never come to BF (aimed at men who like to shoot things).

All this talk about using the BOGO codes today is making me forget I have to use a PCC today.  Off to check that Green Moon will work on my machine, then I think I'll see if there's anythng I want to listen to over on BBC Radio 4 Extra.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Just wanted to post a note to thank Tirama for setting this site up.  It is far and away more user friendly than BFG; we can post images, use the HO word without getting censored in addition to developers' names so really we came out ahead in many ways.  Sometimes it takes something not so good to help us go in a new direction.  Again, thank you!!

Re: Finish your games challenge

You're welcome, tee.

I'm just going to ask that we not let all this freedom go to our heads.  We're a culturally diverse group and I'd hate to see us all bickering over politics or religon. (That's not a complaint about anybody's signature quote, to make myself clear.)

I also hope people will show some restraint in their choice of avatars.  There's some cool ones out there that move and flash and on there own, they look nice.  But when an entire page loads and everybody has an animated avatar, with animations in their signature, and more animations in their message, it can feel like you're in a gaming arcade.

I don't remember if anybody in our group has had to pass up any games due to flashing lights, but out of respect to them and to those who may have limited download capabilities, maybe we could have a separate thread where people could post those types of things so that they can be viewed by those interested, and the people who want to give it a miss for whatever reasons don't have to set there profiles so that they can't see any avatars, which would be a shame because there's some really beautiful ones being used.

Okay, just checked out Green Moon, it works on my machine, so I just acquired t using a PCC.  I started Asian Riddles last night.  Finished 24 puzzles.  First batch of 12 were all 10x10.  Second batch of 12 started out 10x10, and then changed to 10x15.

tee - yes, when one door closes, another will open.  Everything happens for a reason, and now I am happy that we are in a forum where we can say what we want, post pictures, name developers without being censored.  It's like Freedom!!  BF was so restrictive.
Tirama was talking about listening to BBC, well a friend of mine just gave me a link to The Streaming Bible and I am so happy because I can hear the whole bible in audio mode with text as well so I can follow along.  I can select any version, King James, NIV, etc.  I was actually thinking of buying an audio bible so I'm very glad that she gave me this link because now I can listen for Free.

Oh, oh, Tirama, I'm guilty of using animations..sorry.  I shall go back and delete some of them.

Barre, it's okay.  This is all new to us, If you find anything amusing you want to share with us, maybe you could start a thread for them.

I've enjoyed all those photos you've posted and I'm going to ask DH to take a photo of my one needlepoint masterpiece and a doll I have that might interest you.

Ad you avatar is gorgeous.  I'd hate for anybody to have to miss out on seeing it.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Tirama, thanks but I think I shall just leave out emoticons since nobody here is really interested in them.
I'm glad you like my avatar....it's easy to make one for yourself.  Just take any picture you like and select avatar size and I think the program will resize it for you.
I'm glad you like the doll, if nobody minds I will post more doll pictures because the friend of mine is really talented.

Don't you love discovering free entertanment or free stuff that you were willing to pay for?   One of these days I'm going to pry one of the tablets away from DH and read some books from Project Gutenberg on it.

To be fair, I understand BF's restrictions on mentioning competitors and posting links.  There are some people who just have to push the limits and probaby would find it very funny to post links to porn or whatnot.  The larger the group, the more diverse, and the more likely somebody will find something that's sure to upset somebody else.  We all sawhow ugly things got at the very end, with some poeple pursuing others from thread to thread to continue the slanging match.

I don't care where people buy their games or whether they mention sales going on at various portals.  I buy from Big Fish but I don't work for them and what fits my gaming needs may not fit somebody else's.  No game portal can be all things to all people.
