Lord, there's nastiness over in the BFG forums because some reviewers had the audacity to say Merry Christmas. What is this world coming to?
Wendy, I just went to BFG to see what all the fuss was about but Nilosh's review has been totally deleted. Not just locked but deleted! Like, gone! It's not there anymore. Not just the Christmas wishes but the entire post has gone, review included. I've never seen that happen before.
Did you manage to see what Nilosh (and maybe others?) had written before it was deleted? Someone referred to it as "religious diatribe" but wasn't it just a "Merry Christmas"? I can't believe what a couple of the fishies wrote. I can't believe how angry they were.![]()
But the Christmas thread is still there and hasn't been deleted. Everyone just seemed to have a problem with it being in the reviews thread.
What a lot of kerfluffle about nothing. And Nilosh, who's one of the great regular reviewers, is leaving the pond, saying there's too much negativity and nastiness to make it a welcoming place anymore, but that he/she would still try to post reviews. All over a "Merry Christmas"????I say Happy Hanuka (sp.?) to my Jewish friends, even though I'm not Jewish.
I saw it before it was removed and figured it would get flagged. It wasn't the fact that Christmas was mentioned, it was the lecturing tone and swipe at people being PC which probably caused offense.

Lecturing about Christmas?

Lecturing how some feel saying Merry Christmas is too PC and has no place in the world but like it or not, we all have the capacity to embrace the true meaning of Christmas, or words to that effect. It wasn't just a "Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate the holiday".

Gotcha, thanks, Tirama. I gather that's what Nilosh said and so was deleted. But as he/she said, it would have been nice to have kept the review and just deleted everything else.

Forgot to say that the post disappeared because enough fishies were offended and red flagged it. When a moderator gets aroud to reviewing it (and it may take a while, it IS a holiday), the moderator will no doubt remove the offending first paragraph and leave the review.

Well, there you go, Tirama. I feel so ignorant. I have to admit that I have no idea how it all works.
I had no idea that enough flags would remove a post until it's moderated but it makes sense. Thanks for explaining it to me.
And now I'm really off to . I hope everyone had a great day today. I almost finished the main game of Nutcracker (didn't play it last year) but just got too tired and couldn't cope with a fiddly minigame so will finish it tomorrow, followed by the bonus game.

I read nilosh's post before it got deleted too. He made soe good points about Christmas being a caring holiday. He said he doesn't celebrate it but for those who do Merry Christmas. There was some more about people being forced to say Happy Holidays and I think something abiout how we could all learn from the giving and peaceful aspect. If I remember correctly. When I read it I thought hat the first few sentences would get the dreaded "removed by moderator". It was a good review.
I've played one of each of the ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS PUZZLE game. All on easy. The spot the difference drove me up a wall. Very subtle differences so I spent most of my time hitting the hint button. Fortunately it has an immediate refill. I think I might get it with a PCC.
I tried to vote again in the Casual Games site but it wouldn't let me. I'd click vote and it would just click me back to the same screen.
Wendy -- so sorry about the battery. I had a girl friend who LOVED to go shopping on Christmas Eve! Yuck! I'm not a fan of malls at any time of year. If you still need that cockatrice egg let me know and we can work some way out to get it to you.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas. Like stusue I'm alone. Which is okay. What isn't is that my tummy is a bit off so no Christmas dinner for me!

Thanks, Lily, but it's a cockatrice figurine and I don't think anyone has one yet.
We had corndogs for dinner, I have a very strange husband.
I voted in the Casual games poll, but I haven't played many of the games and some of the ones I would have picked arent nominated. Even though I haven't played Madame Fate yet, seems like it should have been a contender in more categories.

Elephant Games is coming out with a new FTP, I started a thread in that section, I'll put the link here, too.
I'll be gone tomorrow, this is gonna kill me, it's got great reviews.

I also saw what Nilosh said and I had no idea it was deleted but I knew it would ruffle feathers. If he/she had just said "I know its pc but merry christmas anyways", that would be one thing but he/she went on in a political matter even though he/she said they weren't going to do that and then all these other people who weren't even reviewing had to put their 2 cents in. One person wrote about repenting all their sins and someone else said religion shouldn't be part of reviews. I personally wasn't offended by any of it but it made me realize why we no longer have the CCC and it kind of made me happy that its gone. There was always so much bickering. No one could let anything just be said, someone had to trump it and it caused a lot of drama. If I was new to BFG and saw all that negativity, I would probably go elsewhere so I assume part of them removing it was because it was hindering new business. They should have at least left the review though...
I decided to get the new Hidden Expedition game as I found it incredible and I was happy that eipix did it because last year's was so not up to par with what I consider a good game. I bought it but it was dark and dismal and I really did not like it much. So now on BPM when I use a PCC, I will be able to fill a punch card AND my ratio for the month buying 6 games (4 CEs & 2 SEs) will be $5.82/game so I did good . I decided to keep track so I could do some addition and see if Im really doing myself any favors with sales or if Im just leading myself into debt.
Hope everyone had a great day if you
celebrate xmas. We had already celebrated it so today felt like just another day. I got to sleep in and I tried the FTP game Found on my dad's ipad. At first I couldn't figure out what the hubbub was about and then BAM! Im obsessed with it. Everytime I was about to quit it, I would level up and then Id have more energy and I love it. Im on level 7 I believe. Now my dad is going to have to share his ipad with me since it doesn't work on mac! I love games with quests. Thats why I loved Sims Social so much on facebook. However, the hidden object scenes could be longer and more items to find but I do enjoy it. Better than Dark Manor is. I tried that one and can't stand it.
Im redownloading the Fierce Tales-marcus' Memory CE trying to revive it from last night's death. hopefully it will come back to life and let me play it!!
