sunshinej, a quote from their website ...

With a historical background in PC casual adventure games, we have now shifted our development strategy toward the mobile games market.

I've just sent them an email, asking them if they've really stopped making PC games, especially after Nearwood, and letting them know how sad that is if it's true.  I'll see what they say should they reply.

Oscar...My holiday shopping is nearly done.  Just need 1 more gift for my daughter.  I am thinking of a homemade gift of her favorite recipes.  I will need to get a good quality 3 ring binder some tabs for the different catergories  and plastic sheet protectors and print out her favorites recipes.  She mentioned she wanted to learn how to start cooking.

Oh, sunshinej, I can SO relate to you being like a kid in a candy store with your GameHouse FunPass.  I'm so the same.  I just want to play as many of their games as I can so as to get the most out of my pass.  It's so much fun to just download and play a game.    I've got a whole heap all downloaded and patiently waiting for me to get to them in their little folder on my desktop.

Have you got your Xmas pressie from GH?  I think I'm going to get Adelantado Trilogy Book 3 with the coupon code.  I'll have to demo it first, of course, but I've got Book 2 and want to get 3.  I downloaded it today before I went to the Xmas markets and will hopefully demo it tomorrow.  That will also finish my first ever GH punch card for my first free game.

And what a wonderful idea, a homemade recipe book for your daughter.    I wish my mum had given me one.  I've asked her for some of the recipes for my fav slices but she doesn't know what she did with her recipe books.    I'd love to have a recipe book like that that I could have with me always as a memory of my mum, once she's no longer with me.

Frickin sweet!  BFG gave me a CE coupon for Nightmare Cinema.  Not only did they give me a coupon, they said they would leave it in my purchase history so I can still replay it in the future.

WTG, Wendy, getting a CE coupon code!  I've also received CE coupon codes from BFG for games - once when there was no expert mode in the bonus chapter and it had sparkles, once when I had to skip a minigame because there was a glitch, once when there was a problem with an achievement - and all 3 times I could keep the original games so that I could replay them, should I wish later.

I'm glad you finally got Witches Legacy: Lair of the Witch Queen to work, after only 10 tries.    Hopefully CS can help you for next time, or you work out the best way to do it yourself.

And good luck with CS re Black Water

stusue -- Thanks for those comments about F2P that you posted from BoomZap.  That's kind of scary (from our point of view) about how expensive HOPAs are getting and how short their life is.  I think monika is reacting more to the rather nasty comments that went on seemingly forever about BFG CASINO.  Those sort of morphed into a "we don't want any F2P games".

I agree 100%.  I think it's a shame that the smaller developers can no longer compete, and I can understand why now, with the big companies spending upwards of $1 million per game.  And I also feel it's a shame when great games are released by smaller developers without huge budgets and thus the games don't have all the fantastic graphics or animations, etc., - although they're really interesting games - and then they get really shameful negative reviews (imho), with terms like "rubbish", "garbage", etc, because they can't compete cosmetically with the big-budget games.

And yes, I also think it's in reaction to all the nastiness following the release of Casino.

ETA:  I forgot to say that I'm sorry you can't play the F2P games when you were having fun playing them.  Does that mean that there are now 2 of us not playing?

Re: Finish your games challenge

Over at BF people are ranting and raving because BoomZap has apparently structured the Christmas quests and collectibles n such a way that they won't be able to earn the same amount of gold bars as they did during Thanksgiving.  Some people earned 4,000 gold bars - which would have cost about $200 to buy.  Maybe Monika is reacting to that, and all the posts about BoomZap being greedy for not giving away thousands of bars of gold.

I've got my fingers crossed hoping for a CE BOGO this weekend.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I could never have gotten a recipe book from my mother, she didn't measure much.  How much, Mom?  Til it looks right.  At least most of the meals I learned from her don't really need measuring.  Basically pot roast and gravy and pickled cucumbers.  The cukes I know I need sugar and vinegar, 1/2 cup of one and 3/4 of the other.  Can never remember so I make it with 1/2 cup each, taste it, and then I know which needs more  Dad never liked to wear his dentures so I know how to cook things so they're gummable
Re the Boomzap comments... if it's really getting that hard for them to make a buck, I don't mind if they do it like BZ just did with this Awakening FTP.  It ties in with the series and it's nice to play while waiting for the next game to come out.  Hopefully it will bring them in new customers when they release the next premium game and there will be good synergy.  Gotta go, hubby's home

Sounds like the really bitter ranting and complaining that used to go on every time any sale wasn't a half-price credit sale.  There's a sale of some sort every single day but some people are never satisfied and can't be grateful for what they get.  Just because I may not take advantage of a particular sale doesn't mean to say that I'm not grateful for every sale they have.  And it isn't BoomZap being the greedy one...

Well, I'm hoping for a CE/SE BOGOF over the whole Christmas/New Year period like last year.  But I won't be angry and rant and rave if we don't get one.  It'll just make me all the more grateful for all the great sales we've had this year (while I'm crying into my Christmas pudding, thinking of the games I've got lined up to get that I won't be getting to play at Christmas).

Re: Finish your games challenge

I received a reply about the French/English problem already.  I did send in a question about it way back when but thought I had it figured out so never replied to their auto response asking for another reply.  This one is from an actual person, but she doesn't seem to comprehend what my question/problem is.  Even though I managed to get it installed I'm still persuing it, all I've really been asking is what I should do to download the English version of a French game, and I can't seem to get an answer.
Anyway, Witches Legacy seems like a pretty short game, according to the walkthru I'm halfway done already.  That's good, though, because I need to start The Nutcracker pretty soon, and I'm hoping the Scrooge game comes out as SE before Xmas, I'm sure it will, no one will buy it after Xmas.  If we get a true BOGO I'll rejoin for a month.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I'm almost done with Witches Legacy, thank God.  i had to come here and vent.  The game was interesting when it started but then it completely lost the plot and all rhyme or reason.  I couldn't smash the glass with my pickaxe but later on I could with my rock.  Right now I have a diagram showing a cat eating some kind of fruit and going to sleep.  Turns out I also needed a fish, a mortar, and a pitcher, even though none of that is shown.  Just a bunch of dumb stuff like that.  Can't wait til it's over.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Well, at least that one's done and over with.  The very ending was cool, and I liked the beginning, it was the whole middle part that bored me to tears.  Thank God for an interactive jump map.  I plan on starting The Nutcracker tomorrow, I'm sure it will take me two or three days, then if the new Christmas Carol isn't out yet I have an old one I can play.
