Re: Finish your games challenge

I just finished Dire Grove.  What an excellent game.  I was enthralled the whole way through and I think I liked/appreciated it this time more than the first time I played it.  It was great how the tapes add so much to the atmosphere and how they contain some clues.  The main actress was really good; I looked her up, she's been in a few things but nothing I'd ever heard of.  I had to use the walkthru a bit, but not too much, considering.  Whatever I play next will be a let-down so maybe I ought to toil on in Motortown.  I really want to play Fate's Carnival now

Re: Finish your games challenge

I'm quite like Dr Magnus.  It is an SE and there are achievements and collectibles which is nice.  The graphics are quite good as is the story.  So far there have been quite a few HOs but I don't find there to be too many.  There are a lot of things that require keys!

And World Riddles is so addictive.  My mantra has become just one more board, and suddenly it is quarter to 3.  I'm definitely going to pick up Arizona Rose.  Had I been paying more attention I would have gotten it yesterday for the bonus punch.  My next 3 pccs expire Dec 11.  the email is time stamped 4:28pm, I'm not sure what time that is BFG time and I'd hate to lose the coupons.  I'm going to use one for the game for my mom.  She really loves the nongrams.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Oscar, that is so good your mom likes these games, especially the nonograms.  I'm around older people all the time living in a Florida RV park and playing shuffleboard.  I've seen a lot of people with Altzheimer's and Parkinson's.  It appears to me that the people who keep their minds active keep those diseases away, or at the least, keep it from happening for a lot longer.  With shuffleboard in particular, you need hand/eye coordination and you have to do a lot of strategizing and it just seems to keep all those neurons and synapsis stuff in good working shape.

I'm almost finished with Motor Town.  Then a good news/ bad news situation happened.  You have a funnel and a candle in a closeup.  As soon as you take the funnel the closeup closes and you don't have a chance to take the candle, which you need to finish the game.   I'm missing a candle so I guess I goofed up there because I remember taking the other candles.  I didn't realize it had this glitch until I came to the forum looking to find out where the last candle was.  So I sent an email to CS and hopefully I will get a coupon for a replacement game.  I told them I wasn't enjoying the game enough to replay it, and boy, ain't that the truth  I would not recommend this game although I read a lot of good reviews, that's why I bought it  Oh, well, I'll always have Dire Grove ...

Re: Finish your games challenge

Well, I started Mystery of Cleopatra.  I hadn't realized it was National Geographic.  I hate Nat Geo games.  I don't understand how they can take such interesting topics and make such boring games out of them.  I'll play a little off and on over the next few days but I think it's going to get dexed  Off to maybe try a little FAIRIES, it's M3.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I'm back from trying Fairies.  I don't like that one either.  It's M3 but you make matches by sliding the whole entire row or column.  It just didn't feel right.  Anyone else ever played this type?

Re: Finish your games challenge

I just finished House of 1000 Doors: Serpent Flame CE and bonus chapter too.  This game was purchased in June 2013 and I only just finished it now....I am so far behind.  It was a nice game by Alawar but the graphics can't compare to some of the latest games which have much nicer HD graphics.

Next on the agenda is Off The Record: Linden Shades CE.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I have finished When in Rome (TM). It was OK. The best thing was that it had relaxed mode.

Tirama, I also have Mahjong Towers Eternity but I was so angry/sad because I reached the next highest rank (I think it was called Lightening Pig), and the next time I was going to play both my username and rank was gone  zip, nada. I tried to restart the computer, reinstall the game, but nothing. Then I dexed it.

Wendy, I also have Fairies. It was one of the first games I bought along with MTE.
I finished it in Classic mode, but never in the Adventure mode, where you got the pictures (wallpapers ?)
The matching is a bit weird, but I remember I loved the graphics.

It´s from one of my back then favorite devs, some French guys Emmanuel Marty and Jerome Grandsire. It was they who made the first Azadas before it was sold to ERS.

Re: Finish your games challenge

barregar - sounds like you are more up to date than me!

Wendy I've never played that one.  I did come across it though in a recent game, it was an option instead of the HO scenes.  I disliked it immensely.  Plus when you do match 3 instead of HO it always seems to take forever to just have one item struck off the list.

Re the nonograms, unfortunately we are having first hand experience with a cognitive disability in my dad, he's 74.  He makes it a point to continue to read and do his crosswords as well as model building.  But with the type of issue he is having he is only too aware of it so he can get quite frustrated,  I got my mother hooked on games starting with MCF Prime Suspects.  At this point she prefers stuff like the nongrams, Gardenscapes and Match 3.  Anything I think she'd like I sign on as her and purchase under her with my coupons, then she just has to dl.  Most of my coupons go to things for her.

Last night I worked until 12:30am!  I was on a mission to find a discrepancy of $773, which I still haven't, I'm very annoyed, I am going thru it for a third time today. So I only ended up playing World Riddles until about 1:30.

Re: Finish your games challenge

Oscar, I feel for you with the numbers.  When I write down my numbers in the carnival I have one page that says how much was made in each game and another page that says how much was made by each person, since we bring in money from both games.  It's usually only 6 days, and the numbers still don't equal out half the time.  It takes forever to fix it.

Sunshine, I just started Mystery Legends Phantom of the Opera, it's on your list.  I think I just played the demo part and was saving it for dessert but I guess 3 years is long enough to save it.

ETA:  I've played over an hour now and still remember things so maybe I finished this one already.  That's fine, though, I'm going to keep playing it.  The HOs are a real bee-otch.  The cursor is a finger so you always think there's something for you to do.  It's a little slow going from scene to scene but there's something about the game that I just like.

Re: Finish your games challenge

I finished Engimatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek.  A really good main game.  The bonus was just okay for me.  I wished I got the SE on this one.  The extras didn't unlock until the main game and the bonus were both finished and by that time I didn't care about using the wallpaper.  The bonus wasn't very long and it wasn't needed to finish the main game.

I d/l The Heritage and was able to finish it in one day.  It had 20 chapters and each chapter took about 10 minutes each.  It is a FROG game and the pieces were easy to find.  The story that went with it is downright meloncholy.  I am happy that it is done.  1 down and 4 more to go.

Wendy...I am looking forward to playing Phantom of the Opera.  Glad you like it, tough HOs and all.  I think I'll save this one for last to better savor it.

Oscar...I have yet to play Dreamatorium of Doctor Magnus.  I have already played World Riddles: Seven Wonders they are my favorite nonogram puzzles.  It is nice that your mom is interested in doing them.  I think with everything it is use it or lose it and that includes one's thinking process.

Have you found the discrepancy yet?  I do small amounts of bookkeeping at work and balance the bank statements and hate when I am off.
