Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Still needing to log on to my father-in-law's ISP to get to the forum.  Haven't heard back from my ISP and Boardhost has been ignoring me since Saturday.  As far as their help section is concerned, the forum is up and running and therefore I shoukd be able to access it.  The fact that I CAN access it with one ISP and not with another doesn't seem  to have registered.

BoomZap is also telling their customers to take a hike.  On their own forum, they've been handing out a canned message telling people to contact Big Fish.  Seems BoomZap is only interested in their new mobile device games they are releasing on their own.

I've got some many games with bits and pieces of them played.  Been catching up on listening to the BBC and playing Jigsaws Galore.  Also have been working away at Clutter 4, which has over 500 levels or puzzles to complete.  Started Regency Solitaire last night.

Well how unfortunate I bought games yesterday.  They're even cheaper today!

I finished Drawn: The Painted Tower last night.  A wonderfully different game ending on a cliffhanger.  Luckily,  I don't need to wait to see what happened to Iris and can play the next one soon.

I finished Shiver: Lily's Requiem CE.  The bonus game is not needed for the story if you are thinking about getting the SE.  It was fun though finding the black pearls and decorating the room and finding stuff for the fish tank

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Just bought Deponia for 49cents at GOG (good old games).  I'm going to play a real game for  a change instead of FTPs now that the Valentine's event is over.  Either Fright or Taken Souls.  I have the first two Shivers, now I will have to get the last two next month with PCCs.  Really hoping True Fear 2 comes out.

Well boo to that! Sounds like a pcc game instead. The Taken Souls game at GH, what are the Extras in the PE?

So, Taken Souls: Blood Ritual PE at GH ... to answer your question, I have absolutely NO idea!  The Bonus tab is locked until you've finished the game.  And, as I had a problem and haven't been able to get back to it, I haven't finished and thus haven't found out yet.

I tried reinstalling the game without uninstalling, thinking it wouldn't reinstall or ask me if I wanted to replace the files that were already there, or something like that.  But no, it simply deleted all the files that were already there and I lost everything!  I've reinstalled games before and I've NEVER lost my profile.  So I have to start right from the beginning again as I'm no longer in the profiles ... and I was near the end of the main game!!!!

Okay, I love the game, but that doesn't mean that I want to replay a game I've just played, especially when I have sooooooooo many other unplayed games, waiting in the wings!

Someone posted how to get around the problem that I encountered ... the day after I reinstalled the game and lost everything! ... and you have to put your cursor on top of what you have to click on, then hit Enter instead of clicking.  I never would have thought of that!  I tried clicking on the spot but nothing worked and the Hint didn't help at all in this case.

However, a lot of people are having problems with the game continually crashing and GH has posted this in the forums ...

Hi there,

The game is incredibly demanding on the graphic card. We are very sorry for not checking this before the launch. We are currently looking into establishing a standard for our developers that the games have to comply with.

And they've now added this on the main game page ...

please note: Taken Souls - Blood Ritual has more advanced graphics than usual. Depending on your computer's capacity, you might experience issues while playing (such as crashing as scenes change)

Fortunately I'm playing it on my new laptop with really high specs for gaming so I haven't experienced any of the crashing problems, just the stupid problem in the room where the robotic spiders are made!

I've just tried playing it on my PC and it's much too slow.  Any kind of scene change, including HOs, zoom zones, diary, everything is just way too slow and I can't deal with it.  It did look intriguing so I will d/l it on laptop and try it there, I think it's more current than PC, maybe it can deal with it better.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

Wendy, I'm so glad I've got a new laptop so I can play Taken Souls: Blood Ritual PE

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll get to play it for a long time yet as I don't get a minute to myself here.  I'm only online now as Mum's just gone to bed and I'm here on my own tonight.  Normally there are at least 2 of us here at all times but tonight I was the only one free and I thought I'd say hi before crashing and hoping to get some sleep.  And so far there have been people here all day, every day,. either doctors/nurses, etc, or family or friends visiting.  I'm so tired and my CFS is really playing up but I just wanted to say hi.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

So, before I collapse into bed, I just downloaded today's  FREE  game at  Game Giveaway of the Day  and thought you all might like it.

It's one of the minigames we play in HOPAs, the one where you have to join 2 like objects on a grid without crossing lines.  I really love this game.  This freebie is a tiny little box in the middle of the screen, with a tiny little grid, and starts really easy but does get a bit harder as you play.  I think it has 100 levels and uses fruit but, as it's free, who cares that it's so small?

Fruits

Fruits is a simple addictive puzzle game. Connect matching colors with flow lines. Pair all colors, and cover the entire board to solve each puzzle. But watch out, lines will break if they cross or overlap! Free play through 120 levels.

    *    Over 100 puzzles;
    *    Clean, colorful graphics.

.
It doesn't say it's Windows 8 compatible but I tried it on my laptop with  Windows 8.1 and a touchscreen and it works like a dream using touch.

Enjoy!

Now I'm off to bed, hoping that Mum wakes up well again tomorrow.

Take care, everyone, and have a great weekend!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2015

I'll have to check it out, Stusue, sometimes I can get their games to unzip or whatever it is you need to do, and sometimes I can't.
I started The Mystery of a Lost Planet with Funpass but it's also on BFG.  I"m loving it so far.  We've crashed into a planet, just now got out of the spaceship and I love the graphics.  It's partially a 'circle' game, which I like.  If you play on hard you get to meet another character but hard is really hard, the cursor changes over a few things but not everything so you have to do a lot of looking and clicking and they seem to like to put things on the very bottom of the screen so easy to miss.  I got stuck on the first HO, it was a box with a clear lid and I couldn't click the items inside.  Finally realized there was an inset piece for the handle, it was hard to see the handle needed a piece and the cursor didn't change when you were over the piece, I finally just clicked on everything and found it.
I tried Fairy Kingdom with Funpass last night, it's a road clearing game that seems like Playrix but I didn't notice their name anywhere.  The people seem straight out of Royal Envoy, even the fireworks.  But I just don't care for road clearing, I consider RE something different.  Only played a few levels so can't really judge it, but so far you couldn't string commands and I don't like playing games like that.

I finished a game!!!!   Completed Regency Solitaire last night.

In between playing my FTP's, I'm going to try to finish Death and Betrayal in Romania: A Dana Knightstone Novel Collector's Edition.
