I do so totally agree!  I'm not quite letting him spoil the game for me,  but it's close.

In Tiger Eye Part 1, when Dela fastens Hari seatbelt in the plane, he suggests that if she doesn't stop, he's going to get...excited.  LOL  Not annoying, but not what I'm used to in a casual game.

Re: People and things in games that leave you shaking your head

What do you think about this trend of putting helpful critters into games?  I think the first one I remember is the pocket dragon from the Awakening series.  ERS latest is a raccoon that you can put clothes on it.

My take is I don't mind it.  It doesn't have to be there in a game, but since it is I might as well have some fun with it,

Re: People and things in games that leave you shaking your head

I just finished the new Mystery Trackers and Elf the dog was back.  I don't mind them at all. I think in the new one people are complaining about you don't have to dress the raccoon if you don't want to.  Feed yes and interact with some little jobs.  To me they are games and if they want to throw them in with a purpose I'll just enjoy them as a little diversion.  The fairy in Isabella annoys me more.

Re: People and things in games that leave you shaking your head

I hated the puppet helper and those stupid hats ERS came up with for us to make and dress it in.  I think cuddly critter helpers work best in fairytale games.  It seems once people in the game forums got excited about Elf, developers began shoving animal helpers into every game they made, whether the helpers integrated well or not.

I really hate human "helpers" who bark orders at you and stand around and do nothing other than "I'll wait here" .

Ha, that is what I always laugh at Tirama.  You want me to do what? Wy can't you do that yourself I think as I virtually stalk off to find some book or cane for some lazy villager.

yup those hats were silly.  It does need to have a purpose, those did not.  I think in one of the EAP games there was a crow that fetched high items, good idea so we didn't have to find a new ladder all the time.

Re: People and things in games that leave you shaking your head

Tirama and Oscar, that always drives me crazy.  No matter who they are...firghtened child, seasoned cop, little old lady...they order you to find things for them...a lot of times IN THEIR OWN HOUSE...and don't think to give you the key you need, or even just tell you where it is.  I can't remember which game it was that I played recently, but it doesn't matter, since a lot of them do it, but this girl was on her death bed, you somehow get in the house, her father asks you to fetch something, but the door handle is missing (of course...you think these people might maintain their houses a little better), it has to be in the chest next to him, but you need a pendant to open the chest, which is on a chain around the girls neck...which neither of them bother to tell you!  Ugh!

Ok, two more things about Tiger Eye, and then I'll shut up about it.

1.  When Dela first meets Hari, she asks him why he can speak her language, and if he can read it.  He says it is part of the curse, so he can communicate with his masters, but reading wasn't considered important, so that wasn't included.  But then at the end of the second game, he's leaving her notes?  It's only like a week later (if that).  Huh?

2.  This one really had me shaking my head...when Dela gives Hari the ring and he gets his skin back, he turns into a tiger, and then back into a human.  In the process his towel falls off (they make a point of showing it around his ankles).  Kit barges into the room without knocking to warn them of intruders, and she doesn't even notice this 7 foot tall naked man (who if I recall correctly, she had not yet met)?  Doesn't react at all?  Double Huh?

Re: People and things in games that leave you shaking your head

It's things like that which have driven me to builders and solitaire games.
Do people really lock absolutely everything in their own homes,  including dresser drawers and jewelry boxes?  (Which can easly be stolen and broken open later.)
On the subject of critter helpers,  has anyone tried   Hansel and Gretel?  I thought it was stupid at first,  then played more of the demo after seeing the good reviews;  thought maybe it was okay.  But  the  "helper,"  in the form of a squeaky-voiced gingerbread boy,  I'm afraid would inspire me to turn off the sound.

Re: People and things in games that leave you shaking your head

I just finished playing Antique Road Trip USA.   When the game ends, James and Grace, our antique shop owners, have just had a baby, a girl named Jessica.  And they had a dog whose name I've already forgotten.

Started playing Antique Road Trip 2: Homecoming, which was released 11 months later.  James and Grace now have a son, Colin and are getting a new puppy.  No sign of the old dog or of daughter Jessica.  What did they do, sell them????????

LOL Tirama!

I loved the pocket dragon and the raven that got high things for you.  I do not like dressing or feeding or buying stuff for my helpers in games!
