The pond dried up,
Poor fishies choke
For air as froggies croak.
We've lost the thirst for games, and will to play.
But BF tries to ease our pain
With yet another sale,
And wow! Appreciation Day!
How could we hold a grudge?
Much better we just suck it up,
And learn to breathe in sludge.

Sorry, thought I was past feeling cynical, but the irony was
too sharp to ignore. Also, today's DD is Betrayals of Love.

I agree, Sand ~ unbelievable cheekiness on their part, for sure!
I copied the following poem I saw yesterday on a thread posted by Hespera, TexTrekkie's daughter and it brought tears to my eyes. Reposting it here in her honor.
My Last Hurrah (for my Mom)
[[Post New]] by Hespera on Aug 13, 13 1:43 PM
(I'm not my Mom - but I couldn't resist giving this a try)
There's a grief that can't be spoken
There's a pain goes on and on
Virtual chairs at virtual tables
Soon my friends will all be gone.
Here we talked of news and gaming
Here it was we lit some flames
Here we sang about tomorrow
Now we know all the talk was tame.
From our place in Chit Chat Corner
We could see Big Fish reborn
And we 'talked' with voices ringing
I can hear us now!
The very words that we were saying
Became our last communion...
Oh my friends, can we forgive them
For this needless thing they've done?
There's a grief that can't be spoken
There's a pain goes on and on.
Phantom faces at the 'windows'
Phantom shadows at the 'doors'
Virtual chairs at virtual tables
Where my friends will meet no more.
Oh my friends, my friends, don't ask me
What all your trust was for
Virtual chairs at virtual tables
Where my friends will meet no more.
Borrowed from Les Miserables 'Empty Chairs At Empty Tables'

Listen to the whispers of your heart
Cherish your most precious dreams,
Feel the magic in the air
Dance on a bright moonbeam.
When we believe our dreams,
They can carry us to the stars.
Sandhan, I am so glad that you started this thread Poems. I have always loved your poems and hope you will share many more with us.
Tee, thank you for reposting Hespera's poem here. I love it even though it is melancholy.

Barre, Thanks. I didn't expect it to be a thread, but that's great.
I love poetry.

If I can stop one heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching
Or cool one pain
Or help the fainting robin
Unto his nest again
I shall not live in vain.

I hope it is okay to quote famous poetry that we love. I just love this one, as well as sandhan's version.

The retroactive cure for grief
Is never to have loved at all;
The cure for pain is never to feel.
The cure for death is never to have lived.

The night is filled with rushing wings--
I must have dreamt I was alone!
In solitude all Heaven sings,
And angels rush to roll away the stone.
