Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Oscar, so glad you were able to check in.  Like a goofus, I didn't get to wish you bye and have a nice vacation.  Myrtle Beach is somewhere I would love to go, the beach and all those golf courses.Hope you have a fantastic time and the weather is good.

I actually finished a game!!!  I've been playing the Demon Hunter game off and on and must say it was well worth the $2.95 I paid for it at Legacy.  Thanks to whoever mentioned that place.  Nice to pick up games on sale once in a while without a membership fee.  I didn't get all the hidden items as I truthfully, forgot to look for them.  But I liked the graphics a lot and the HOS were nice with the morphing items.  The story I've pretty much already forgotten but getting a bonus game on a SE game was nice and it was a long game for me.  Well worth the money.

My GK's are spending the night tomorrow night so my son and his wife can celebrate his birthday (3/9) with some friends.  My GD (7) loves to play on the computer and she likes the Halloween and Christmasville games (pretty good finding stuff) and already has an eye for fashion (Jo Jo's Fashion game).

I think I'm about to give up on the FTP games as I don't seem to get very far.  One of my quests in ART had something that was in Lv.42 I believe and I'm only on 27 and am not spending any money to advance.  My gold is almost gone as I used it on other things.  Midnight Castle is slow going now as there are alot of items that you don't get very often.  Guess if I played more than once a day it would be better but have too much other stuff to do.  In the mood to play more of my "bought" games now.  The FTP remind me of what happened on the FB games ~ they're fun at first and you get your village or castle or whatever it is all set up and then the quests start coming left and right and they're almost impossible to get them all done and I get frustrated.  In AK, I have probably 10-12 quests lined up, mostly to play the mini-games which I don't have resources for and upgrade the orchard to Lv. 5 has been sitting there forever so my interest seems to be waning on all of them.

oscar -- So glad you could check in!  That is one big vehicle you're driving!  And 9 hours is a lot of driving in one day.  Hope you have great weather and a really fun & relaxing vacation!

teeitup -- I've got some of the same quests you do (in ART & AK).  I've been ignoring upgrading the Orchard.  I'm working my way to those locked minis in ART.  I haven't spent any real money on the F2Ps.  Do what you feel is best for you!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

well okay it looks like I missed a lot of stuff....Im sorry to see Barre go.  especially over posts. I did write in the pond friends Mac section as a guest with this screen name because Shorenuf has always done so much for mac users in terms of getting us our own forums which we never had before etc and I found out that she is leaving BFG too which to me is just sad. For a long time I was a member of a spades card game online group that played on yahoo. It was a lot of fun for awhile until it got super dramatic between a few people running it and then it all shut down and people went their separate ways. I didn't want to pick sides so I just stopped playing or commenting. Why does stuff on the internet have to be like that? Its cliche but we all  have a love for games so why can't we all just get along? ok enough about this.

I am waiting to see what kind of sale there is this weekend haha so I can assess which CE to get with my coupon expiring March 9th. I assume I will get no punches for it but if for some reason I do, I want to be prepared lol I am most likely getting Grim Legends-The Forsaken Bride CE as I LOVE artifex mundi and LOVED the demo. I just demoed Forest Legends-Call of Love CE and although Im psyched about the fact its a pure adventure game with potions at that!, I am not loving it. I find it clunky and 1.8 GB really? its like cartoon scenes! I do like that alawar is finally giving us mac players some games though. I also demoed the Fill & Cross games that have been out and I like them since I love nonograms but World Mosaics are more interesting because you get to see the design afterwards.

I feel like I should start Nightmares from the deep-The Sirens call over because I have been away from it for sooo long and didn't give it the love it deserves but I don't really want to start again.

Now its way past when I first started writing this. Had to tend to the dog who was panting. My mom thought she just needed more pain medicine but I knew she had to go out and pee which she did after arguing with my mom for an hour and then waking up my dad. I refused to give her more meds just to make her quiet. I understand my mom was half asleep but Im glad I made the right call.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Now that I see the sale...IF for some reason this CE punch I have gives me 3 punches then I will also get the Danse Adiago by Eipix. I see Mystery of Unicorn Castle CE today. Is this related to the game from a longgggggg time ago? I never bought that one but am downloading it along with this one to compare. No idea about what developer it is. For some reason the snapshots remind me of Gogii but who knows. I haven't seen any ERS games lately and am hoping they are working on some new games that will impress me. I heard that a popular developer is going to abandon casual games and just go to mobile but they failed to mention which developer as it was under wraps. This was about 3 months ago. I am just curious to find out who it is.

My coupon from the punch debactle expiring March 9th works on CE and gave me 3 punches...I thought coupons weren't supposed to do that anymore not that I am complaining. Anyway now I guess Danse will be mine as long as the Mystery of the Unicorn doesn't sweep me off my feet. Well that or Riddles of Fate since Im demoing that too.

Meg, it's only PCCs that are affected by the new rules, only getting the bonus punch if you use them on Mondays but no normal punches.  You'll still get a punch for any other coupons, ie. GCCs and free coupon codes.  I used mine last Monday and got the usual 4 punches.

As for the 3 games you're deciding between ...

Danse Adagio - I played it a few days ago and really regret not waiting for the SE and using a PCC.  The main game is great but the bonus chapter was disappointing and the extras, in my mind, also disappointing and not worth getting the CE versus using a PCC for the SE.

Riddles of Fate - I quite liked the bit of the demo I played but it's got some really bad reviews and I don't know that it's CE worthy.

Mystery of the Unicorn - I played a bit of the demo this morning - but I think my poor, old computer couldn't handle it as it was SO slow! - but it was definitely different and, from what I checked out in the Extras and from the reviews I've read, you'll have to play it through twice to not only get all the achievements (there are 2 sets of achievements to earn - one for each moral choice you have to make), but also to get the 2 different karmic endings, as you have moral choices all the way through and each choice has a karmic effect later in the game which makes it interesting.  However, I don't know that it's CE worthy, either, but the collectibles are apparently quite hard to spot.  I'd love someone to let us know what the bonus chapter's like but no one seems to do that anymore.

However, if you haven't already got it, I recommend Grim Legends, which I finished yesterday, and which is now in my top 3 fav games ever.

In the sale I'm looking at a few games and will, of course, get them on Monday to get the extra punch, if I decide to get any of them.  The ones I'm looking at, despite the lukewarm reviews because I really liked the demos, are:

Fatal Passion: Art Prison (I keep thinking about this one and really want to play it NOW)
Lost Lands: Dark Overlord (which has replayable minigames and I really liked those I played)

I was going to get Lost Lands on Monday with a replacement coupon I have but, with the sale on, I may keep that as it doesn't expire until the end of the year, and use it when there's no sale on and there's a CE I really want.    I'll also be keeping an eye on the reviews of Mystery of Unicorn Castle this weekend.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Good to see you meg!  Glad you didn't medicate te dog but just let her out to pee!  I'm a PC user but I admired Shorenuf too.  When BFG first announced the "new" forums I think they said there wouldn't be any MAC forums.  I posted in the thread that I didn't think that was right since MAC users seem to have some very special needs/problems that PC users don't.  Shorenuf thanked me for my support.  I very vaguely remember MYSTERY OF UNICORN CASTLE and from what stusue said I'll probably get that.  I did get (but of course haven't played as yet) GRIM LEGENDS.  From what I've read I think I'll be ver happy wit it.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I finished Fill and Cross: World Contest.  I thought the 6th room was easier than rooms 4-5.  Not sure what I'm going to play next.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I have finished Order of the Light: The Deathly Artisan CE. It was fun, I liked it very much. There was a lot of collectibles and I missed a few ones. I tried to check every new scene but sometimes I got so involved so I forgot it. The BC was very long , well over an hour.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

WOW!  I just played 15 minutes of UNICORN CASTLE.  I looked at the screen shots and was afraid the scenes would be too dark.  I managed to get out of the Graveyard and had to make my first karmic choice.  I'm pretty much lost but I will definitely be getting this game!

stusue -- Thanks for your tips about SE vs CE.  I miss not seeing that in reviews too.
