Speaking of among the missing -- has stusue checked in after her surgery?
Sorry, Lily, I've been so busy going from doctor to professor and back again, injecting myself in the stomach every morning ready for surgery (last time this morning! yay!!!!) as I had to stop my blood thinner and inject something like heparin so that I don't bleed during the op, plus lots of family visits these past few days and I haven't been sleeping well at all ... well, sleeping fine but waking up way too early and I've only had between 4.5 and 5.5 hours sleep these past 3 or 4 nights.
As for my surgery, it's tomorrow, and I have to pay for an operating theatre, anaesthetist, professor of plastic surgery, hospital day bed ... I don't think I've forgotten anything. Anyway, A$4,500 later I hope ... and desperately pray ... that I won't have to have a second surgery. I'm hoping that they get all the cancer the first time and the pathology doesn't show that there's still some there and that I'll need further surgery. Just once is going to be bad enough. But at least I won't be having any anaesthetic, just twilight sedation, but I'll be left with quite a big scar on my upper lip. I don't mind the scar but they have to pull the skin right up over the removal site (nearly 1 cm across to make sure they get everything) and that might bleed and be very uncomfortable for a while. At least I should only be in the hospital for 4-5 hours after I enter it.
And Anki, good to see you back! Sorry you've been so busy working that you haven't had time to pop in here and chat. I hope you've had some time to play some games, though!!!!
Sorry, guys, but I really only stopped in for a quick check. My sister was here the whole weekend and we've had other visitors since 8am this morning and everyone has only just left. I feel awful I'm so tired and so I'm going to have a lie down now as I don't want to be too sick tomorrow morning ... after 3 days of so little sleep and I haven't been able to take any of my tablets as I'm not sure which ones increase bleeding and which ones don't. And no eating after midnight tonight!!!!! I'm normally as sick as a dog if I don't eat something as soon as i wake up. I have to have a shower now and wash my hair ... always a nightmare for me as it's so exhausting for my poor muscles ... but need to have a bit of a rest and lie down to get enough energy to tackle it. I have to be at the hospital at 8:30 in the morning and there's no way I could shower and wash my hair before then.
I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow, even if it's just a quick, "I'm still alive and kicking!".
I hope you're all having a great weekend. I've managed to play a bit of Magic Card Solitaire this week (bought over at GH) which is a fun little golf solitaire game. It got crap reviews at BFG but I really like it.
Oh, I also haven't been here for a few days as my computer was back in the hospital getting that virus finally removed once and for all! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
So, more once all that yucky cancer has gone ... I hope.

You poor thing, you have so much on your plate right now; praying that you have a successful surgery and speedy recovery. I hear you on the shower and washing your hair ~ I had a bit of that for a while and found out my cholesterol medicine was the culprit. Another friend mentioned her arms ached when she lifted them to do her hair and found out it was the meds so I checked with my doctor and made a change and it seemed to help a lot.
Anyway, will be thinking about you tomorrow.

Just a quick question. GOG has a good sale on, I'm thinking about Gabriel Knight 1-3, a Leisure Suit Larry collection, and a scary collection..7th Guest, 11th Hour(?), and two Phantasmagorms. They're about $5 bucks for each collection. I've always read these were classics, has anyone played them? Should I go for it? I really don't need anymore games but it's such a good deal...

Tee, Lily, thanks so much! What's worrying me the most (apart from being knocked out for surgery) is the bleeding afterwards as I take blood thinners (even though I stopped it on Friday and have injected myself in the stomach 3 mornings since then) and what the wound is going to look like afterwards, and how they're going to bandage it when it's right up against my nose. At least I'm a private patient in a private hospital being operated on by a specialist skin cancer Professor of plastic surgery, so I hope the wound and bleeding will be fine.
Tee, my problem with showering is due to my CFS as, as far as my muscles are concerned (every single organ and system in my body is affected), my upper body is much more affected than my lower body and so standing and lifting my arms up for such a long time to shower, shampoo, condition and rinse my hair is absolutely exhausting and sometimes I have to have rests as I'm washing my hair as I can't hold my arms up that long (if I'm having one of my bad muscle days).

Wendy, I've bought a few more games in this GOG sale. I'm not interested in the Gabriel Knight games. I can't really remember why but I think it might have been because he's a mysogynist and I didn't like the way he talked to women. There was one game like that and I think it was Gabriel Knight.
The Leisure Suit Larry collection doesn't interest me either. My sister loved the first one when it came out ages ago but I didn't like it. I think I didn't appreciate the humour (or lack thereof), although my sister loved it.
I have 7th Guest and 11th Hour (although I haven't yet played them, of course) but, after looking at the 2 Phantasmagorias and reading the GameBoomers review of the first one, I decided I wouldn't get those. After reading this at the beginning of the review: "The first thing I have to say before we go any further is, if you are of a squeamish disposition and/or dislike overt and graphic scenes of homicidal and psychotic knife murders, disembowelment and S & M/Dominatrix then this is definitely not the game for you.", I decided that it wasn't the game for me. Also, I don't like really, really old games (ie. anything earlier than 2000 and even some of the more recent games) as I don't like the graphis and gameplay.
I got a whole heap of games in the sale they had just before this one but the games I've got in this sale are:
Steamworld Dig (a relatively simple digging platformer with great graphics, as I'm hopeless at platformers and want to improve)
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs (a sequel to a game I already have)
American McGee's Grimm
Beyond Good and Evil
1954 Alcatraz
Age of Wonders
The only complete bundle that's offered that I have is the Daedalic Adventures bundle. If you love large file adventure games then this is a great bundle, especially at that price!
I can also recommend the Horrifying FMV bundle, but check out the videos clips and screenshots of the games and read the reviews before you purchase to see if they're your kind of games.
But GOG have these sales on regularly (but not always the same games) and I imagine they'll have another huge sale over the Festive Season. I wishlisted 3 games during this sale (as they were only 50% off) and so I'm hoping they turn up at 75% off soon.
Hope this helps and doesn't make the decision even harder.

I'm just waiting up to eat as I can't have anything to eat or drink after midnight tonight (1.5 hours to go) - not even water!!!!!
I just want to go to bed but I'm always as sick as a dog if I don't eat when I get up in the morning so I'm trying to decide if I'll eat at 11 pm then go to bed or wait until nearly midnight. Methinks I need sleep as much as food.
I'm watching some TV but I might play a bit more of Magic Card Solitaire to try and take my mind off tomorrow as it doesn't require much thought but keeps your mind occupied - and it's FUN!

Here you go, wendy. Everything you ever wanted to know about Leisure Suit Larry but were afraid to ask.

I got some of the Leisure Suit Larry games in a previous GOG sale because I remember being at my brother's house years ago when he lived in Kansas and he loved them. Wanted to see what the draw was and checked one out briefly and it definitely is old-school graphics. Plan to play a little more one of these days and if I don't like them that much, I'm not out a lot of money. I still haven't ever played Myst or Riven that I got from there ~ started on Myst but was totally lost after a bit.

I had a lazy day yesterday. After doing a 2 mile walk in the morning I didn't leave the couch for the rest of the day. I had beef stew in the crock pot so no need to make dinner. I did set up the laptop and finished the main game of Living Legends: Ice Rose. This game doesn't have VO so it is nice one to play while the Husband was watching football. I started it some time ago, so the story was a little lost on me. The ingame clock said I took 10 1/2 hours just to play the main game! That can't be right, I wonder how much TV I was watching instead of playing the game. Another game where the SE gives you a cliffhanger ending. Good thing on this one I have the CE.
