Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I finally sat down and finished Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian Hope Diamond Collector's Edition.

Really good game and I'm looking forward to the next one.  Going to play Asian Riddles 2 next.

I'll have to keep SHTRIGA in mind.

lilyr, Shtriga is on sale at Legacy Games for $2.95.  It says until 28 January but it's still on sale today so, if you want to get it, I'd suggest you get it asap, as who knows how much longer it'll be on sale.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I've played 2 rooms worth of Asian Riddles 2 and am halfway through the 3 room.  Unless I'm not looking in the right place, the devs appear to have removed achievements from this series.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Well, I finished Shtriga: Summer Camp.  Stusue, you were so right, I just wanted to keep playing it non stop because I liked it so much even though I was in the middle of The Gold Bug and I see what you mean about hitting the hint button at a junction.  Most times all I wanted is which direction do I go to help me along.

stusue...Thanks for listing the upcoming games at GameHouse.  I see the first one on the list is out already.  I must wait to play Fall of the New Age until I'm finished with the Dark Tales series, but after that I think I would like to play that one next.  Too bad about Secret Bunker USSR not coming out soon.

Tirama...Cute story   I can just picture it.

sunshinej, I so want to finish Shtriga but I don't know if I'll manage to finish it until my DB, DSIL and DN leave Friday of next week.  They're arriving this Friday and my sis and I are busy cleaning and getting their beds ready, etc, so no time to play.    At least it's stopped snowing ... well, just a few flakes still around ... so at least we haven't had to shovel snow since the day before yesterday.    I have well over 100 sq metres to shovel.

I used the 50% discount code to get Fall of the New Age Platinum Edition for the price of an SE from GameHouse this morning - BFG only has the SE - and 3 punches.  It has all the usual extras, as well as an SG, and it has 12 extra locations (40 in the SE, 52 in the PE).  From the reviews I read, the SE apparently ends really abruptly and unsatisfactorily and some people said that they really needed a walkthrough, and there isn't one.  I also got Mystika for 59 cents (using the 50% discount code), which meant that with those 2 games and the 2 free punches, I got a PCC.  So, for $7.58 I got Fall of the New Age PE, Mystika and another PCC!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

sunshinej, I just finished Shtriga  I was supposed to wake my sister up early this morning but I got up early and tried to finish the game instead.    Well, I didn't want to have to wait over a week to finish it, did I?

I really liked it.  As we've both said, easy gameplay, super easy HOSs and minigames (although, apart from the slider puzzle they were minigames that I like), but the atmosphere was great and I really loved it.    It was also nice and long and I really liked the artwork.  The only disappointing thing was the ending.  As usual, the cutscene ending was really short and what happened right at the end of that could have been a bit longer, rather than just a split second!    I'd love a sequel, though, and with that ending it would be possible!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Way to go Stusue  Glad you didn't have to wait to finish.  I too, really liked this game and it surprised me as I wasn't expecting much and then I couldn't stop playing.  I thought the atmosphere was great and it was longer than I thought it would be and like you said the ending was quick and a tad disappointing, but they did leave themselves open for a sequel.  The devs for this game is Game Cartel and I looked and couldn't find anything else by them, so maybe a first effort.  If so, it was a really super good first effort.

I finished Dark Tales: EAP's The Gold Bug.  That makes 12 games finished for the month of January.  I think it just might be my most prolific month yet.  Nothing like freezing cold temps and some snow to keep one indoors.

I like The Gold Bug even though it was a little glitchy.  The Game kicked me out once and froze twice where I had to CAD out of it.  The story was really good and I liked my helper a newfoundland.  A dog I would never have in real life since they are so hugh, but he made such a cute sidekick sniffing out clues.  The puzzles were very nice, more doable than thinky and the artwork was gorgeous, especially that sunset.  Much more pastel looking than the previous games.  I had the SE version and the ending was just perfect that I didn't feel a loss that I didn't get the CE version.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Wow Sunshine, that is a whole heap o games! And I know what you mean, I tend to hibernate in this weather.

I've finished the main game of Fates Carnival and I'm on to the bonus.  In most of the door lock puzzles I have found the clues and the make some sort of sense.  But the one in the grotto had a random bit as well unless I missed something.  I had to go to the sg to find out how to start it.  It says set the lock like this.  I scoured that puzzle and couldn't find anything that clued you in.  It would have had to have been total luck to stumble on the right setting.  I have found all the bobbleheads but I'm not sure about the cards yet.  I say thank goodness there is a jump map! There is a lot of toing and froing.

I am looking forward to the new Mystery of the Ancients. I hope I'm not let down.  Curse of the Blackwater was a top three for me.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I just dl Asian Riddles on to my IPad.  And I do hold  you Tirama responsible for hooking me and by extension my mom on these things!  (grin)

I had to take my computer in to have the power source swapped out and my techie was amazed and kept repeating you have 175 games on this! He said I should be on the wall of shame, lol.  But these are my unplayed ones and some demos.  If I don't have them I'll forget what I have and haven't played.  Lol he just kept repeating it. 175 175.
