Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Thanks sandhan.  No, I only finished the easy and medium levels.  Well, I couldn't finish the last rotate puzzle on the medium lefel.  I tried it sooo many times!   The picture they gave you to look at was pretty small and didn't stay there very long.

I "lost" a few jigsaw pieces too.  Then I started piling them all up on an edge.  When the edges were completed then I;d sort the pieces.  I never had a problem after that.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I think I am converting my husband to HOPA's.  I was playing  Dark Tales: EAP's The Gold Bug last night and my husband came over and sat down and played a chapter with me.

Sandhan...You mentioned Fall of the New Age on the previous page.  Now that game looks interesting.  I must remember it for future reference.

stusue...Glad you got your games sorted.  Sorry I was no help.  Truthfully, I forgot about some of them even the Secret Bunker USSR one and that just came out TGT last Wednesday. Must of have been sleeping.    Actually I think I would like to get  the Secret Bunker one myself.

I just did a demo on Shtriga: Summer Camp by Alawar at GameHouse.  It actually quite good.  Not very challenging so don't expect that.  Even on expert it is pretty easy.  Mainly I like it because it has a nice creep factor story and you can play it without getting stumped, backtracking or running around clueless.  A nice game to kick back with.  Probably not long though.  It's hard to tell with no walkthrough to compare length with.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

My DH just told me about this geat game he found for the android.  Turned out to be the first Enigmatis.  Gently explained we already owned it for PC and that there's a second one, which we also have.

Has anybody tried TGT Undiscovered?

sunshinej, I've been playing Shtriga: Summer Camp for the last few days, ever since it came out, and it's looooooooooooong.  I have no idea how far I am through it but every time I think I'm near the end I find out that the cupboard in the corner is actually a doorway through to an entire new region with lots of different areas, or I cross a river or something.  And I LOVE it!  The atmosphere is amazing and really eerie.  The HOSs are really easy - look at the first thing on the list and find it, then the second one, etc.  The puzzles are also somewhat easy - and there aren't that many of them - but they're the ones I love and some do take a bit of thought.  My sister and I were in town all day today and when we got home I said I'd just go up and play Shtriga for a bit ... and ended up playing for ages because I just didn't want to quit.    I only eventually quit when I hit a minigame that was going to take a bit of time.

Oh, and there IS a bit of backtracking, especially when I'm not sure what to do next as I don't have what I need to do something, and so have to go back a few scenes to find a HOS to get the needed item.  But the one problem with the hint is that when you use it when you're stumped, it will show you the direction to head but then it's used up and you have to wait for it to recharge, still not knowing where you're headed.  So I'd always go to a junction (there are several) before I used the hint to be shown which way to head, rather than when I'm in a scene, just to be told to exit the house to a junction, or whatever, and be none the wiser as to what I was supposed to be doing.

Here's GameHouse's list of games expected to come out in the next three weeks ... note the three I've highlighted ...

Fall of the New Age Platinum Edition ... Hidden Object
Evy - Magic Spheres ... Shooter
Paranormal State - Poison Spring Platinum Edition ... Hidden Object
The Curse of Silent Marshes ... Hidden Object
Space Mahjong ... Mah Jong
Alchemy Mysteries - Prague Legends ... Adventure
Legends of Solitaire – Curse of the Dragons for Mac ... Card Games
The Path of Hercules for Mac ... Match 3
Zombie Jewel for Mac ... Match 3
Shadow Shelter ... Hidden Object
Gardens Inc. 2 - The Road to Fame ... Time Management
Alex Hunter - Lord of the Mind ... Hidden Object
Match-3 All-Time Hit Bundle ... Match 3
1000 Light-Years Away ... Match 3
Sky Taxi 5 - GMO ... Platformer
Magic Encyclopedia - Illusions for Mac ... Hidden Object
Style Quest for Mac ... Time Management
Love Alchemy - A Heart in Winter ... Hidden Object

Platinum Editions of Fall of the New Age (which you mentioned and I'm very interested in) and Paranormal State - Poison Spring, whereas BFG only has the SE of both.  AND Shadow Shelter will also be out in the next three weeks (and the games come out roughly in the order listed).  Unfortunately, Sunken Bunker USSR isn't due out in the next 3 weeks so I may get that one with a PCC next Monday, as I really want to continue playing it.

WTG, sunshinej

Or are you really turning him to the darkside?

Sorry, Tirama, but I haven't as yet tried Undiscovered.  I've only just read the few reviews on the main game page.  I may try it tomorrow if I get a few minutes but we're really busy tomorrow, getting my house ready for my brother, sister-in-law and niece, who'll be arriving Friday night.  So 4 guests for a week!  Then just back to my sister for about another 10 days before she heads home, too, and I'll be back to being all on my own again.

I'm glad you were gentle with your poor DH.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

sunshinej,  I almost forgot!

If you haven't already got an email from GameHouse, or you haven't noticed on their website, there's yet another sitewide 50% off sale (including PEs) until 30 January, also good for their discounted games, where you get 50% off the already discounted price.

Code:  DOG14

Any idea why DOG14?

I tried Undiscovered and I'm getting it when the next BOGO sale arrives.  It's a nice M3 with lots of different things to do, build, HOS, puzzles, etc.

I just finished Dark Cases: The Blood Ruby.  It was a nice game, lots of puzzles and some were a little difficult, some easy.

Next I will play Surface: The Pantheon CE.

I just went into my GM and got an update to Antiques Road Trip.  I hope that will finally fix all the glitches in the game.

I'll have to keep SHTRIGA in mind.  I looked at UNDISCOVERED and think it might be a game I'd like.
