Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I LOVED Christmas Tale:  Fellina's Joiurney stusue!  I probably got it with a PCC (I always use them for SEs -- never use cash).  I was going to play it again this Christmas but ran out of time.

I found a walkthrough for A WIZARD'S CURSE.  I'm tempted to get that with a PCC but I'm not sure if it's too hard for me.  I definitely WON'T be getting ASPECTUS!

Lily, why won't you be getting Aspectus????    Don't worry, only kidding.    The graphics in the sequel look absolutely stunning.  This time it's set in Florence in 1526.

I've got A Wizard's Curse so I'll have a look at that for you tomorrow if you'd like and let you know what I think.  I was trying to decide which game to play next and that one's as good as any!

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Question:

I'm trying to find a game I bought eons ago but can't for the life of me remember the name.  I've been through my entire purchase history but can't find it.

All that I can remember is that it starts in Venice and a little boy is kidnapped.  I think the house is claustrophobic and there's a winding staircase.  You go down to the cellar and out to the canal, if I remember correctly.  It's got gorgeous graphics but I don't think many people liked it.

Anyone got any ideas what it's called?  I really want to play it but my mind's a blank.

That sounds really familiar stusue, but I can't put my finger on it either.  I'll look through my notes.  If it's the one I'm thinking of I had it down as a "no buy" -- either for difficulty or it was one of those 360 games.

stusue...Game doesn't ring a bell.  At BF if you go on to their help page right under the box titled MY STUFF is a box with a magnify glass Can't Find a Game - Search by Title and Description on our game search page.  It might help.

I also played Fellini's Journey.  Got it for 2.99  - Liked it very much.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

stusue. I just checked my coupons and I did get one on May 5 for AK; don't remember if it was a new DL to my laptop or a re-DL on my PC.  I also got a coupon back on March 14 for Midnight Castle.  They both have exp. dates of December 31 so will hold on to them for a while.

I just finished playing Grim Facade: Mystery of Venice; decided to play all of the Grim Facade games together.  I doubt if that is the one you were thinking of as it is a mom and daughter that were kidnapped from a gondola.  There were lots of buildings you had to go in and out of and I loved the graphics, even if it was an oldie (2011).  Makes you realize how far they've come.  I enjoyed the game and got if for $3.00 (Groupon) so definitely got my money's worth.  Started on GF: Sinister Obsession CE yesterday and the graphics in it are even a little more polished a year later.

Chronicles of Mystery Tree of Life is Venice.  I don't recall the story though. Otherwise I don't know.

I finished Dark Parables Jack and the Sky Kingdom.  It was just okay.  I wasn't terribly impressed with the gameplay, it really hasn't changed all that much since the first Parables, nor has the artwork.  The game also crashed on me 3 times in the last third of the game. Irritating.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I've just posted a rull review of  A Wizard's Curse  in my review thread, if anyone's interested.  I found I'd already played it but played it again so I could review it.  My recommendation and rating is as follows:

My Recommendation:    SE but with reservation

I really liked the game, even the second time around.  It’s not a difficult game but not super easy, either.  It has beautiful graphics and challenging HOSs, which I love.  It’s just a pity it’s so short and so linear.  They could have done so much more with it.  I recommend the SE but not to purchase, only with a PCC or DD as it’s short and you don’t do very much in the game.  Unfortunately, the game doesn’t live up to the fantastic, dramatic opening scene.

My Rating:

I had fun playing but it’s nothing special  (and rather short)

I checked out the developer's site (Hullabu) as the game ends suggesting a sequel.  There I found that it's actually called A Wizard's Curse: Episode 1.  So I posted a comment, asking if there was going to be another episode.  It'll be interesting to see if they reply.    However, as they now seem to be concentrating on games for iPad and Android, I won't be holding my breath that there'll be an Episode 2.

If you go to the developer's site you can choose to have them send you the game for iPad or Android.  It doesn't say whether it's the full game or only a demo but it sounds like the full game (you have a choice of 4).

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Thanks, everyone, for all your game suggestions!

Sunshine, I'd searched for "Venice" but the game I wanted didn't come up.  However, it never even registered that it looked for words in the game description as well as the game title.    I'm such a doofus!    So I went back to the search page and looked for things like, Italy, Florence (maybe I had the wrong city but I knew it wasn't Rome), doctor, kidnapped, etc... and found nothing.  Well, I found lots of good games but not the one I wanted to play.   Then I thought to look for "boy" et voila!  There it was!  Dance of Death.  I was so happy!    Thanks so much!  But I realised that had I looked for "Venetian" instead of "Venice" I would have found it on my first try!
