Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I finished off Sea of Lies Mutiny of the Heart.  It was short, for me around 3 hours with the bonus, it was also quite easy puzzle wise.  But oh so enjoyable to play.  It was a fun pirate romp.

I was reading in a thread, I'm not sure if it was in Sea of Lies (I thnk it was) as I went there after to read others reviews, but there were comments about it being short.  Several people said oh well if you play easy its only 2 hours, expert 3, hardcore 4.  Or something to that effect.  I've never read any such thing before.  I don't think playing on a different level affects the length of gameplay, just what help you utilize, so yes if you play on easy and use all the options available to help it can considerably cut down on play time compared to a hardcore where all help is disabled.  I played this game on Expert and did not have to skip or use the SG at all, or the map for that matter.  So I don't feel the gameplay would have been longer on the hardcore mode. The extras that were in each scene were small papers and there was a picture of it near the hint button.  When you found it in the scene it folded up, so if it remained open it was a good reminder that you had yet to find it. So while it was short I do feel like it was worth the money, probably in a BOGO for fun value.

Thanks, Jen.  I played Puzzle Quest 1 and 2 the entire summer.  I was totally obsessed.  Just bought it.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I finished the bonus chapter of Nightmare Realm: In the End... Collector's Edition.  It was a prequel and explained the origins of the nightmare realm.  The HO scenes were entirely interactive and the best interactive ones I've ever played.  The interaction fitted in with the story.

I'm going to replay Hidden Expedition ® - Devil's Triangle (which I hated the first time around) and then reqrd myself with Hidden Expedition: Smithsonian Hope Diamond Collector's Edition.

Didn't get anything on BPM.  I want Asian Riddles 2, but will get it at the end of the month.  Don't want to be tempted to play it now.  I want to save it to play during the Olympics since it can be picked up and dropped when necessary.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

I started Forest Legends The Call of Love and played for about an hour.  I think it's going to go right back in the box for now.  I find it very very boring.  It is quite slow moving, a lot of dialogue and reading, which I normally don't mind but I do in this one.  There are no HOs which is also fine, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot else to do either.  I went back and read a couple of reviews and there were remarks about it being puzzle heavy, which again would be fine by my but I've seen very little of them so far.  It took forever just to get the three ingredients together to make the first potion.  The music and sound effects made me want to turn the volume off, a first for me.  So two thumbs down for me. Not entertaining at all for me. I'll revisit it at a later date, perhaps I'll find it more appealing then.

Has anyone completed this game?  Have I not given it enough of a chance?

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Sorry, Oscar, I haven't played Forest Legends yet ... surprise, surprise ... but I got the SE so I must have liked it enough to get it.

I'd like some advice on games myself, though.  With my sister here I don't have time to demo anything; the only computer time I get is when we settle down in front of the TV at night and we both play games, although I'm just playing an incredibly looooooooooooooooong, quite different Tripeaks solitaire game (Legends of Solitaire - Curse of the Dragon - 400 adventure/story levels with the most amazing deep narrator's voice then unlimited Tripeaks and another type of solitaire game but I forget which in free play mode) as I can't demo a game when I'm watchng a movie with my sister and chatting with her at the same time.  So, these are the CEs that I don't have as either CE or SE and would like some advice if anyone has any sort of opinion.  The most important things in a CE for me (if the main game is interesting, of course) are the bonus chapter and if there are hard-to-find, interesting collectibles/morphing objects.

Possible CE:

Dangerous Games: Prisoners of Destiny
Mythic Wonders: The Philosopher's Stone

Amaranthine Voyage: The Living Mountain

CE? SE?

Mysterium: Lake Bliss
Witches' Legacy: Hunter and the Hunted

Possible SE:

Secret Trails: Frozen Heart
Haunted Train: Spirits of Charon

Not sure that I'll get it at all:

The Emerald Maiden: Symphony of Dreams
Campgrounds: The Endorus Expedition

Don't want:

Death at Cape Porto: A Dana Knightstome Novel

Any advice/opinions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated (just in case there's another BOGOF one day or for my expiring PCCs on a BP Monday).

THANKS!

ETA: I added today's TGT as I loved the first one and the extras look interesting.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

No problemo, Wendy

I've actually just taken 30 mins to demo today's TGT (Amaranthine Voyage: The Living Mountain, a true sequel to the first game) and so far I'll be getting the CE as there seems to be heaps of extras but, of course, I'll be waiting to see what those people who've finished the game have to say about the bonus chapter.

However, I tried the Custom Mode and I'm not impressed.    You can choose to have no sparklies on the HOSs but you can only adjust the sparklies on areas of interest (one sparkle per area) to only sparkle at the longest every 10 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    AND they sparkle constantly, every 10 seconds, on areas where you can't even do anything yet!    Boy, did I get sick of all those sparklies, especially when I clicked on an area that had a sparkle, only to find that I couldn't do anything there or to be told some inane thing about me not doing it properly.  It also has those inane comments when you choose not to have any helpful hints.    So, whether I end up getting the SE or CE, I won't be playing Custom Mode but Insane Mode as it has no sparklies at all (or so it says), but I think also no cursor change.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Sorry Stusue, I can give you no help.  I haven't done any of those demos.

I have been getting use out of my Gamehouse funpass right now and none of those games are over there.

Oh, me, too, sunshinej!  I'm currently playing Legends of Solitaire - Curse of the Dragon and Monument Builders - The Great Wall of China, neither of which are available at BFG yet.  They're the only sort of games I can play atm with my sister here as I can just play a few rounds at a time or in front of the TV when we're watching a movie.

I just want to get the CEs and SEs sorted out before the next BOGOF or before my next PCCs are about to expire, as otherwise I'm going to have heaps of games to choose from and no time to work them all out.

Re: Finish your games challenge - 2014

Sue, I agree with the 3 possible CEs that you are thinking of getting because I am getting those 3 CEs as well.  None of the rest for me.  I am getting SEs for Fall of the New Age and Rebuild the European Union.
