My healthy tip that I put into practice today was to move more! I wear a pedometer, and have for quite awhile. I'm pretty sedentary, desk job etc so it barely hits 5k. by the end of the day. I worked very hard at it today and it is currently almost 10pm and I am at 8k! So I've done really well. I started off with 40 minutes on the treadmill and tried to keep moving about all day.
You mentioned ginger in tea above. I read an article yesterday re drinking hot tea or just water with 1 tsp. of ground ginger dissolved or spread out to taste to equal 1 tsp to aid in weight loss.
Feel better Barre. Drink lots of water so you don't get dehydrated.

Good for you Oscar on moving more. I found this article on the benefits of moving.
Speaking of aids to weight loss. Have you ever tried drinking lemon water first thing in the morning while your stomach is empty. 1 cup of warm water and 1/4 of a lemon squeezed into it. It is supposed to be a cleanse for your liver which I quote Livestrong.com they say It helps your liver to flush out toxins, which would otherwise be absorbed into your body and if your liver is full of toxins, it can't metabolize fat properly.
Next time I go grocery shopping I am going to buy some lemons and try it for a week or two. And Drink this lemon water 1 hour before I eat breakfast.

A look at cucumbers:
1. Cucumbers are full of B vitamins for that boost of energy. No need to buy those expensive 5 hour energy bottles. Have some cucumbers slices instead.
2. Since cucumbers are made of 95% water they are great to keeping the body hydrated while also helping the body eliminate toxins. Cucumbers have most of the vitamins one needs in a single day and leaving the skin of will provide you with 10% of the daily recommended allowance of vitamin C.
3.The skin of a cucumber can be used for skin irritations and sunburns in the same way that you would use aloe. Also placing a slice over puffy eyes will reduce the puffiness.
4.The silicon and sulfur in cucumbers helps to stimulate hair growth.
5. Taking a slice of cucumber and pressing it against the roof of your mouth with your tongue for at least 30 seconds will help to kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible for causing bad breath.
6. They help with hangovers if you eat a few slices the night before because they contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes that will replenish you reducing the intensity of hangover and headache.
7.Due to the cucumber having low calories and a high water content they are ideal diet food. Also the high water content and dietary fiber they are very helpful in helping the body get rid of toxins. Eaten daily the can be a remedy for chronic constipation.
8. Since the cucumber is a excellent source of silica. The can be a great help if you suffer from joint pain. Drinking a mixture of cucumber and carrot juice will help with gout and arthritis pain by lowering the uric acid levels in one's body.
9. Helps diabetics because cucumber juice contains a hormone that is needed by the pancreas for producing insulin.
The use of pesticides is high in cucumbers so it is best to grow your own or buy organic.

I have been drinking 1/4 lemon squeezed into 1 cup of water since I wrote the above post. The biggest difference I have noticed is in my knees. Where before I would always say my knees were twice as old as the rest of my body. Where before I would slowly go up and down the basement stairs especially first thing in the morning . I now can run up & down the basement steps. My knees now feel the same age as the rest of me.
